Anthropic Launches Claude Tag for Slack With Enterprise Tool Access and Scoped Data Controls

Anthropic has officially launched Claude Tag, a new agentic workflow feature that allows teams to interact with Claude directly inside Slack by tagging @Claude in any authorized channel.

The feature is currently available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers, marking a significant shift in how organizations can integrate AI into day-to-day collaborative work.

Claude Tag transforms Claude from a single-user chat assistant into a multiplayer team member.

Anthropic Launches Claude Tag for Slack

Once granted access to selected Slack channels, Claude can be tagged by any team member to delegate tasks from writing code and chasing down product metrics to resolving support tickets and debugging complex issues.

Unlike traditional AI chat interfaces, Claude Tag operates within a shared channel environment, meaning all team members can see what Claude is working on and pick up conversations where others left off.

The feature is positioned as an evolution of Claude Code, making the model more proactive and team-oriented.

Anthropic reports that 65% of its own product team’s code is now generated using an internal version of Claude Tag a notable internal endorsement of the tool’s capability.

Claude Tag introduces four standout behaviors that differentiate it from previous Claude integrations:

  • Multiplayer interaction — One Claude instance serves an entire Slack channel, enabling collaborative task handoffs between teammates
  • Persistent memory — Claude builds context over time by following channel conversations, eliminating the need to re-explain background information repeatedly
  • Ambient initiative — When enabled, Claude proactively surfaces relevant updates, flags unresolved threads, and monitors connected tools without being prompted
  • Async task execution — Users can assign long-running tasks and step away; Claude can autonomously pursue projects over hours or days, and even schedule future tasks

Anthropic has built Claude Tag with enterprise security in mind. System administrators retain granular control over which tools and data sources Claude can access on a per-channel basis.

Memory and permissions remain strictly scoped to designated channels. A Claude instance configured for sales operations will not share context or data with one configured for engineering.

Administrators can also set token spend limits at both organizational and channel levels and access a full audit log of all Claude activity, including which user initiated each request.

Claude Tag is powered by Opus 4.8 and replaces the existing Claude in the Slack app. Enterprise and Team administrators have a 30-day window to migrate, and eligible organizations will receive an introductory launch credit to facilitate company-wide adoption.

Setup requires pairing Claude Tag with a Slack workspace, configuring tool access, setting spend limits, and running a private channel test.
