A hacker going by the moniker “binanhang123” has claimed responsibility for breaching the personal data of 100 million users of the popular Vietnamese messaging app, Zalo.
The hacker made these claims public on social media, raising concerns about the security of one of Vietnam’s most widely used communication platforms.
According to the hacker’s post, sensitive information such as phone numbers, usernames, and display names of Zalo users have been compromised.
A sample of the stolen data was reportedly shared as proof. Still, there has been no official confirmation or denial from Zalo or relevant authorities regarding the legitimacy of the breach.
Potential Risks for Zalo Users
According to reports from HackManac, the alleged breach has sparked widespread alarm among Zalo’s millions of users, many of whom rely on the app for personal and business communication.

With access to phone numbers and usernames, cybercriminals could launch phishing attacks, scam attempts, or even identity theft.
Security experts are urging Zalo users to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.
Users are advised to avoid clicking on suspicious links or responding to unsolicited messages that may be part of phishing schemes.
Additionally, it is recommended that users enable two-factor authentication (2FA) and change their passwords as a proactive measure.
While the full extent of the breach remains unclear, experts warn that even partial exposure of personal information could lead to significant security risks.
Until more details are confirmed, users should exercise caution in their online interactions.
As of now, Zalo has not issued an official statement confirming or denying the breach.
Cybersecurity agencies in Vietnam are also believed to be looking into the matter.
