Enhanced Secure Boot Visibility
A major cybersecurity improvement in this build is the upgraded Secure Boot monitoring experience within the Windows Security application.
Microsoft is currently updating Secure Boot certificates across consumer and selected enterprise devices to strengthen defenses against boot-level malware and firmware attacks.

Microsoft has also refined User Account Control (UAC) behavior to address “prompt fatigue,” a known security issue where users habitually approve elevation requests without scrutiny.
Key changes include:
- UAC prompts in Storage settings now trigger only when accessing temporary files, rather than immediately upon opening the page
- Reduced unnecessary prompts to improve decision-making and lower the risk of privilege misuse
This adjustment aims to balance usability with security, ensuring users remain attentive to genuine elevation requests.
Build 26300.8170 introduces several notable improvements to storage management and system performance:
- FAT32 formatting limit increased from 32GB to 2TB via command line, offering greater flexibility for legacy-compatible storage
- Improved navigation performance when handling large storage volumes
- Optimized rendering of storage data for better responsiveness
Additionally, Microsoft fixed a telemetry issue in Network & Internet settings that previously displayed inflated data usage statistics, improving accuracy for monitoring network activity.
The update also includes usability improvements to the Feedback Hub:
- Retains window size and session state
- Enhanced mouse navigation for smoother interaction
