On February 12, 2025, the organization detected suspicious activity on its network and promptly initiated an investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic specialists.
The investigation revealed unauthorized access to the network between January 28, 2025, and February 9, 2025, during which certain information was extracted.

The breach involved unauthorized access to the State Bar of Texas’s network, resulting in the potential exposure of personal data, including names and other sensitive information.
Affected individuals are being notified as part of the organization’s efforts to address the incident.
The State Bar of Texas is implementing additional safeguards and reviewing its data privacy and security policies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Although there is no evidence of actual fraudulent misuse of the compromised information, the organization is offering complimentary credit monitoring services through Experian to affected individuals.
Consumer Protection Measures
To protect against potential identity theft and fraud, consumers are advised to remain vigilant by regularly reviewing their account statements and credit reports for suspicious activity.
The State Bar of Texas encourages individuals to enroll in Experian’s IdentityWorks services, which include credit monitoring and identity restoration support.
These services are available for a limited time and require enrollment by July 31, 2025.
Additionally, consumers have the option to place fraud alerts or credit freezes on their credit files with the major credit reporting bureaus Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to further secure their personal information.
Consumers can also contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for guidance on identity theft and fraud prevention.
The FTC provides resources and support for filing complaints and obtaining additional information on consumer rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
